Dieppe & Rouen – buildings with history

21 September 2014 No Comment

Looking back at the long summer we’ve been blessed with this year, the stand out photos are from our annual trip to Dieppe – a modest French seaside resort with a fascinating front.

The steep stony stretch of beach, which became a battleground during the Second World War, is overlooked by a 14th century Chateau, a modernist lido and such beautiful examples of 19th and 20th century resort architecture that you’re torn between views of the sea and the shore.

And an hour on the train takes you to Roeun – a city whose buildings also whisper stories of war and progression; where modern sits next to medieval and the effects of British raids still scar official stone.

This is how my iPhone saw it…
