The sewing school, based in Hove, offers classes, courses and workshops to help sewers of all skill and experience levels hone their craft and create personal pieces to be proud of.

By signing up for the Sew in Brighton sewing club newsletter, which offers free sewing tips, videos, competitions and a birthday present, Vintage Brighton readers will be entered into a prize draw to win a place on the Fashion Design: Pattern Cutting & Designing course worth £145 or four Stitch sewing classes worth up to £100. Ten runners up will also receive a £10 voucher to spend on a course of their choice.

To enter, sign up here before 6 October and choose ‘VB’ in the ‘how did you hear about us’ drop-down menu. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

Sew in Brighton founder Kat Neeser explains that they added Pattern Cutting to the rosta of courses “because people were always coming to us with vintage patterns which never fit”. “We teach students how to create a block – a pattern from their own measurements – which can then be adapted to all vintage patterns”, she adds.

This course starts on 14 October and runs every Monday evening at The Dock in Hove until 2 December.
