Vintage Brighton editor Jo-ann Fortune delves into the Laura Ashley archive for Mollie Makes magazine this month, ahead of the British brand’s 60 year exhibition at The Vinyl Factory in Soho on 5-6 June.

Vintage clothing and homewares, press clippings, catalogues and previously unseen film and photographs will tell the story of the Welsh designer who began screen-printing fabric for quilts in 1953 after she failed to find what she was looking for in London shops.

If you’re forgotten just how important the high street shop’s Victorian-inspired fashions were in the 1970s and 1980s, remind yourself below. And keep an eye out for a report from the exhibition, along with an autumn/winter preview, coming to Vintage Brighton in June.
